A SECURITY firm aims to double its workforce in a major expansion – with the help of a former Darlington delicatessen boss.

Northern Security says it wants 60 workers to bolster its Middlesbrough base.

The company, which operates from a site on Riverside Park Industrial Estate, provides security officers, mobile patrols and alarm systems to more than 200 businesses.

However, it has now appointed David Burrow as its North-East commercial manager to drive further growth, which officials say will provide opportunity to strengthen their workforce.

They hope to take on 60 people in Middlesbrough and have vowed to recruit more apprentices and increase training for existing staff.

Mr Burrow, who previously ran the Nearly Naked Chef delicatessen, in Darlington, says Northern Security is committed to building on its client base, which includes port operators and transport companies.

He said: “My appointment is an exciting development for our future business across the region and it is encouraging the company is aiming to create a significant number of new positions in Middlesbrough.

“In addition to managing current client relationships and overseeing the smooth running of operations, my focus will also be on developing business growth opportunities.”

Stuart Davison, head of operations at Northern Security, added: “We welcome David to what is a key position in the business.

“We work with more than 200 clients from the Middlesbrough office and the North-East is a location we’ve targeted for expansion with the aim of creating around 60 new jobs.”
