MONEY may make the world go round, but it's causing all sorts of headaches in Coronation Street (ITV).

For reasons only she really understands, Shona decides she wants to give Clayton's dad Dane £1,000 from her scratch card winnings. David is understandably horrified, and goes with her to meet her ex. Having decided not to give him any money after all, Dane goes berserk and insults Kylie's memory - and you can probably imagine how David responds to that.

Later, after another altercation involving the hideous Dane, Shona decides that her relationship with David is doomed - will a heart-to-heart at the cafe change her mind?

The £1,000 turns up on Adam's desk, and Billy takes it, posting notes through the letterboxes of Underworld's redundant staff. He wrongly believed that it was the lawyer's money and that he should ease the ladies' woes, little realising he was making a bad situation even worse.

Meanwhile, Nicola tells Phelan she's having Gary's baby, and Angie isn't thrilled about Jude's impending arrival. Stacey is worried she's going to lose her kids (EastEnders, BBC1), but at least Carmel is rallying around, allowing her to spend time with Lily and Arthur. However, Kush quickly works out why his mum has suddenly decided that Stacey isn't an unfit mother after all - she's feeling guilty because she's the one who called social services.

The kids eventually return home, although the social workers reveal they will be checking up on the Fowlers. However, if Carmel hoped that would be the end of it, she's in for a disappointment as Kush gives her an ultimatum - tell Stacey who reported her, or he will.

Elsewhere, Linda fears her cancer has returned and finally comes clean to Mick about her illness. He's understandably shocked, but realises his wife's health must come first - until he discovers that Woody has known about it all along, at which point all hell breaks loose.

Meanwhile, Ted tells Joyce they should run away to Australia, Sharon and Michelle report Tom to the police, and Jane shows signs of improvement - although she might well suffer a relapse when she wakes up to find herself alone with Max...

In Emmerdale (ITV), the tragic events of last week have left Moira in hospital, Harriet struggling with her conscience and the village swarming with police.

So perhaps it's not that surprising that a lot of the locals seem to be turning to the bottle. Vanessa and Charity certainly think drinking is the best way to pass the time when they get locked in the cellar together. However, as the whisky flows the mood suddenly turns passionate and the pair end up kissing...

Meanwhile, Doug gives Gerry a job so he can pay off his B&B bill, unaware that Diane has already hired Liv and Gabby to keep them out of mischief. Sadly, both plans backfire when Gerry steals a bottle of vodka, and Gabby decides to use it to blot out her troubles.

Elsewhere, Kerry gets the wrong end of the stick when she overhears Lydia giving Rishi a number for her fictional new employee 'Una', and assumes they are having an affair. But will she be able to keep her unfounded suspicions to herself?
