George Clarke's Amazing Builds by the Sea (C4, 8pm)

IN this compilation show, the Wearside-born presenter looks back at some of his favourite builds by the sea. These include a multifunctional beach hut in Bournemouth, which only cost around £400, and an ingenious 21st-Century update of a bathing machine in Kent.

The latter was built by Haeckels boss Dom Bridges who used £30,000 entrusted to him by the local community to create Margate's first Victorian bathing machine in over 100 years. George also looks back at some of his favourite waterside retreats in Germany – including an extraordinary lifeguard tower and a holiday home with incredible views across the water. Plus, he reflects on the build he undertook with master craftsman and friend Will Hardie as they took an an icon of the British seaside, the humble beach hut, and transformed it, making it float in the open sea. One wonders exactly how it coped in the UK's often changeable climate

Summer: Earth's Seasonal Secrets (BBC1, 8.30pm)

British summers may not always feel glorious, but as this special is here to remind us, it's still a spectacular time around the world. Narrated by Andrew Scott, the documentary celebrates the season, and the way the long hours of daylight lead to a riot of activity. However, all that sunshine also brings challenges, including how to deal with the sweltering heat. We get to see how a wide range of animals, including sneaky ringtailed lemurs, battling ibex, overheated penguins and astonishing colour-changing lizards, manage to keep their cool.

The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice (BBC2, 9pm)

New series. Jo Brand returns alongside a panel of celebrity Bake Off fans, to look back at all the shenanigans and goings on in the first show of the latest series. Jo shines a spotlight on the best, the worst and the 'must try harder next time' bakes, with chat, exclusive footage from the BBC One show and an interview with the first person in the baker's dozen leaving the tent, for whom cake week proved too much of a challenge. Plus, viewers are invited to share photos of their culinary efforts – the delightful, the delicious and the downright disastrous.

Celebrity Big Brother: Live Final (C5, 9pm)

FORMER I'm a Celebrity winner Christopher Biggins was once the darling of the reality TV stage. After being banished from the house at an early stage for some unguarded remarks, the one-time series' favourite will probably be maintaining a low profile as the denouement is played out. Emma Willis presents highlights of the past 24 hours, before one of the remaining housemates is declared winner. In the aftermath of the big announcement.

Highlands: Scotland's Wild Heart (BBC2, 9.30pm)

THE final show in the series follows the efforts being made by scientists, conservationists and local people in the Highlands as they work to repair the damage of the past and rebuild wild landscapes and habitats. The programme meets Dave Anderson from Forestry Commission Scotland and his colleague Simon Smith as they tag and monitor red kite and osprey chicks, gaining a unique perspective of the lives of the birds before they fly the nest. Cameras also capture the efforts of the Scottish Wildcat Action Plan team, as well as Paul Lister's project to reintroduce wolves and bears to his Alladale Wilderness Reserve.

Friday Night Dinner (C4, 10pm)

Adam and Jonny (Simon Bird and Tom Rosenthal) are in for a shock tonight as the fourth series of Robert Popper's sitcom draws to a close. The boys arrive home to find a For Sale sign in front of the house, and immediately start concocting a whole host of weird and wonderful plans to prevent their parents, Jackie and Martin (Tamsin Greig and Paul Ritter), from selling. However, a knight in shining armour could be about to appear from an unlikely quarter. Jim, the family's strange neighbour, played by the brilliant Mark Heap, is attracted to the house, and comes round as a potential buyer.
