READY to rock? Then Stanley could be your destination of choice.

The town is hosting its first Burning Rock Festival, offering a full day of live music and entertainment, on Saturday, September 10.

Stanley is set to rock out to the sounds of some of the best bands from the area, with live music from The Siege UK, Cherry Leather, The Distorted, Whipfist, and Lana and the Drivers.

There will also be an acoustic side stage, a licensed bar, food and market stalls, and organisers are promising lots to keep the children occupied, including face-painting and inflatables.

Duncan Barnett of The Siege UK said: “Stanley Burning Rock Festival is a unique opportunity for Stanley to once again lead the way by promoting original hard rock, a genre of music, that although popular, is often looked down upon by the mainstream media.

“The Siege UK are really happy to be involved in this groundbreaking rock event, which we hope will lead to others of its type in the Stanley area.”

Stanley Burning Rock Festival is taking place at the Stanley Community Football Centre in Tyne Road, Stanley. Gates will open at 1.30pm, with live music until 9pm.

Limited advance tickets are available now for £5, while those bought on the day will cost £6. Children under 16 will be admitted free if accompanied by a paying adult.
