CLAIMS that an 11-year-old girl escaped from a car after being offered a lift by a man claiming to be a friend of her father are no longer being treated as suspicious or as an attempted abduction, police have confirmed.
She had said that a man saying he was a friend of her dad's had approached her on Church Lane at about 4pm yesterday in Guisborough.
The youngster had previously claimed that she got into his vehicle before getting out at a roundabout keading to the A171 before fleeing.
A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police, said: " Following a report on an incident in which an 11-year-old girl was approached by a man in a car in Guisborough, police can confirm that the incident is no longer being treated as suspicious or as an attempted abduction.
"Members of the public in the local area can be reassured that the investigation has now concluded," she added.
