INDIE group Echo and The Bunnymen have been unveiled as a headline act of a family-friendly music festival.

Frontman Ian McCullouch and his band will join Peter Hook and The Light, who will perform the best of Joy Division and New Order at the four-day Willowman Festival at the Hillside Rural Activities Park in Knayton, near Thirsk, from June 18 to 21.

Echo and the Bunnymen will perform songs from the album they released last year, Meteorites, alongside tracks they have performed since forming in 1978.

Now in its sixth year, the festival has gained a reputation for offering an eclectic line up of new and established artists.

Festival director Steve Williams said: “Echo and The Bunnymen had a fantastic 2014 and the band look to carry on gigging hard in 2015.

“They will be joined by Hooky’s band, which started off as a small project and has grown into a major globe-trotting act.

"Everyone agreed last year’s event was the best yet and we are already planning exciting changes to make 2015 even better.”

Other acts will include Hazel O’Connor, Dreadzone, Jeff Green Project, Ferocious Dog, Neck, and Astralasia.

Early bird tickets are on sale for £65, which includes four nights camping and free parking, at willowmanfestival.co.uk
