MOTORISTS are being warned of two planned full closures of the A1 in North Yorkshire later this month.

The closures, for the installation of bridge beams, are part of the continuing improvements on the A1 between Leeming and Barton, between Scotch Corner and Darlington.

There will be an overnight closure in both directions south of the Scotch Corner junction on March 21 and a 30-hour weekend closure in both directions on March 28.

Project manager Martin Neal said: “The closures are to allow the removal of overhead cables and undertake safety barrier work together with the installation of bridge beams.

“During the closures we advise drivers to allow extra time for their journeys in the area and follow the clearly signed diversion routes. ”

The first closure will begin at 8pm March 21 and end at 6am the following day.

The second extended closure will start at 5pm on March 28 and end at 11pm on March 29. The dates are dependent on weather and ground conditions.
