RESIDENTS of South Durham will be encouraged to think about how they travel this Summer.
Team Local Motion is planning on visiting more than 20,000 households across the South Durham area, from April 11 through to October 31.
Local Motion’s travel advisors, who have been recruited and trained for the project, will call at households in Ferryhill, Spennymoor, Willington and Crook to discuss current travel arrangements and offer tailored advice and information about walking, cycling and public transport alternatives.
The group hopes they can make travelling around the area cheaper, easier and healthier for individuals and for families.
Residents will also have the opportunity to comment on how they think sustainable transport options in the area could be improved.
Travel Advisors will carry personal identification and be easy to recognise from their Local Motion branded clothing.
They will able be able to offer information about walking and cycling activities as well as fun family events and news and views about travel and transport in the area.
The project is part of Durham’s activity programme within the Local Sustainable Transport Fund and is financed by the Department for Transport.
