Six things we learned about the 2015 Election today.

1. Nigel Farage wants to be the next James Bond

Daniel Craig may hold the license to kill for the next Bond movie, Spectre, but speculation is mounting about who will take over when he hangs up his Walther PPK. Asked yesterday, Ukip leader Nigel Farage said: " “I'm not handsome enough but I'm certainly a rogue,” before adding: “I'd give it a go.” Perhaps he could star in Dr No-Immigration?

2. Nick Clegg's wife has a secret food blog

The Clegg family have been writing a secret cookery blog for the last three years.

On www.mumandsons.com, Miriam Gonzalez Durantez and her three sons share recipes for a range of dishes, such as bean quesadillas, lemon curd muffins, and pasta with chorizo, among others.

The Northern Echo:
Mrs Clegg - presumably not with her latest culinary creation

The international trade lawyer let the cat out of the bag during an online chat with members of Mumsnet and admitted the disclosure was likely to get her in trouble.

3. Labour will use the mansion tax and a tobacco levy to 'save' the NHS

Ed Miliband said: " "In our first 100 days, our first Budget, our first year in office, we'll begin to bring in funds from the mansion tax and tobacco levy.

"And we will use that money to support the NHS with our immediate rescue plan.

"An emergency round of nurse recruitment. Funding for 1,000 extra training places this year. Getting extra resources into the NHS right from the very start."

4. Almost half a million people registered to vote in the General Election yesterday ahead of the midnight deadline

early 29.7 million valid votes were cast last time around, making the overall turnout across the UK 65.1%. This was 3.7 percentage points higher than in 2005, but the lowest figure since universal male suffrage in 1918. It was a long way short of the record 33.6 million votes cast in 1992.

The Northern Echo:

5. Nicola Sturgeon is a big fan of Nordic noir Borgen

The SNP leader has admitted watching Danish political drama Borgen "once or twice" and even suggested the show's star Sidse Babett Knudsen could play her in a movie of her life.

The Northern Echo:
Katrine Fonsmark in Borgen - a Sturgeon look-a-like?

6. Stockton South is now classed as a 'king maker seat'

Pollsters say the constituency is one of the constituencies where bookmakers have Labour as narrowest favourite to overturn Conservative majorities. Whichever party wins the most kingmaker seats receives the keys to the castle (10 Downing Street).

The Northern Echo:
