A CLEVELAND Police officer was taken to hospital after a marked police car left the road responding to an incident on Friday night.
The Hyundai car was travelling to an incident at about 10pm when it crashed at the A173 Skelton Ellers, between Skelton and Guisborough, and ended up in a field.
The male officer was rescued from the vehicle by firefighters - three crews from Skelton, Guisborough and Saltburn attended the incident, and also helped with clearing the scene.
The road was closed temporarily to allow recovery of the vehicle and reopened at around 1.45am on Saturday.
The officer was checked over by ambulance service staff at the scene and then taken to Middlesbrough's James Cook University Hospital.
Cleveland Police say that no members of the public were involved in the collision, and the officer is fortunately believed to have suffered only minor injuries.
