FILM-MAKERS are looking for new recruits to help create an ambitious short movie.

Cinematic offering, Whiteblade – which will partly be filmed in Bishop Auckland - needs up to 200 battle-scene extras from the Bishop Auckland area to help complete the project.

Producers also hope the enterprise will interest potential sponsors as well as historians and professional and amateur actors.

Written by Selby-born, Mark Hindman Smith, the story follows the rise to power of the seventh-century Northumbrian warrior, Oswald Iding.

Mr Hindman Smith is an actor, writer, historian, combat director and combat tutor for Eleven Arches.

Filming has already begun in the southern counties and the project aims to start filming here in a few weeks’ time.

Footage taken in Bishop Auckland will make up part of the completed film and will be used by the producers to gain further funding for a television pilot and hopefully a series.

Recruits will receive ‘boot camp’ -style training before filming begins.

Anyone interested in being part of the battle crew should join Whiteblade Combat Crew and SAs on Facebook.
