AROUND £6,000 worth of camera equipment has been stolen from a train.

The high value cameras and photographic equipment are thought to have been taken from the train as it was stopped in Durham station.

British Transport Police are appealing for help in identifying a man they wish to speak to in connection with the theft.

The victim, a 40-year-old man from Alnmouth, Northumberland, was travelling on the 7.30pm train from London to Newcastle.

The train was extremely busy, so he placed the equipment in the luggage rack at the end of the carriage.

BTP wants to speak to a man, captured on CCTV, who got on the train at York and got off in Durham, who looked at the equipment.
