A North East city is set to launch the UK’s first ever Squid Game experience giving stag and hen parties a new, deadly, twist.

The immersive experience, inspired by the hit Netflix show, has been launched in Newcastle.

Stags and Hens will play the six games featured in the popular series, and those who fail will be “shot” by the shows famous masked guards.

Bosses of the event were keen to point out that contestants would be shot with nerf guns rather than the shows real, and very deadly, guns.

Last Night of Freedom, based in Gateshead, is heading the experience and is one of the biggest stag and hen organisers.

It is currently exclusively offering the experience ahead of the 2023 wedding season.

Matt Mavir, managing director of the firm, said he is  “confident there will be an audience” for it after the success of the show.

However, the firm has soon found that “demand is through the roof.”

He added: “And the feedback has been exceptional. Groups have had a great time and a proper laugh. Plus, I think the fact they all walk out alive really lifts their spirts!”

Much like the TV show stag and hens will compete to be the last stag or hen standing by taking part in all the challenges of the series.

Over the course of 90 minutes, eventgoers will tackle iconic challenges including Red Light, Green Light and ‘Sugar Honeycombs’ while onlooking guards will watch them closely, while wielding guns.

And players even get to don the iconic green and white t-shirts worn by the cast of the South Korean show.
