A busy North East road has reopened after a three-vehicle collision caused one lane to close and saw a car crash into the central reservation.

The A19 Southbound between Seaham and Easington has reopened after a three vehicle collision saw a car collide with the central reservation this morning (January 30).

The crash, which involved a Renault Clio, Land Rover, and Mercedes, was first reported to Durham Police at around 7:45am.

Police confirmed no one is believed to have been injured in the incident which took place near Murton.

In a statement today, a Durham Police spokesperson said: "We received reports of a three-vehicle road traffic collision on the A19 Southbound between Seaham and Easington at around 7.45am this morning (January 30).

"The incident involved a black Renault Clio which collided with the central reservation. A Land Rover and Mercedes were also involved.

"No one is believed to have been injured and the Clio will be recovered."

This comes after the crash, situated just after the A182 (Murton Interchange), caused one lane to close and heavy traffic on the A19 Northbound and A19 Southbound.

Meanwhile, the A19 Southbound between B1404 Seaton Lane (Seaton Interchange) and A182 Hall Walks also saw severe delays of up to 23 minutes in the aftermath of the incident.

According to AA traffic maps, the road has since reopened.
