If you’re a Disney Park lover and have previously travelled thousands of miles for your favourite dessert, fear no longer, as you can head to this Gateshead bakery to get your Dole Whip fix.

Popular Gateshead bakery Cookie Freaks, located in Team Valley, has become the first store in the North East to serve a dessert straight from the states.

Pineapple Dole soft serve, more commonly known as Dole Whip, is a pineapple-flavoured treat that has been enjoyed exclusively by visitors to Disney Parks in America since the 1980s.

Owners Macy Donoghue and her dad Kieron Donoghue, who are big Disney lovers, have said they are over the moon to bring the much-loved treat to North East Dole Whip fans.

Macy said: “I have been going to Disneyworld since I was eight at least once a year – I’m obsessed, so bringing pineapple soft serve to the North East is so exciting!

“The best way to describe it is a creamy pineapple sorbet and we can swirl it with vanilla too – which is elite.”

Cookie Freaks is well-known across the region for its signature Cookie Pies and various flavours of giant cookies including a Party Ring stuffed cookie, which has earned them an impressive 19,000 followers on Instagram.

Customers including Geordie Shore star Charlotte Crosby have previously taken to social media to praise the bakery, raving about the treats that can be ordered by the box.

“It was quite difficult to track down a supplier but we managed to get in contact with Dole themselves so this is the real deal.”
