A woman who sold knock-off cigarettes, Nike trainers and designer clothing will be sentenced in court on Tuesday (August 22).

Lyndsay Smith, 43, of Elwick Road in Hartlepool, will appear in Teesside Magistrates Court after pleading guilty to six counts of possessing goods with a false trademark for sale or hire.

The crimes relate to an incident on October 13, 2021, in Hartlepool, which saw her offer counterfeit goods while trying to pass them off as genuine.

During the incident, she tried to pass off 60 sleeves of 200 Richmond King Size Cigarettes, 14 sleeves of 200 L&B Original Silver Cigarettes and three pairs of Nike Air Max 90 as genuine.

In addition, there were further charges of trying to pass off two Nike Sweatshirts, two North Face T-shirts, and nine North Face shorts and T-shirt as legitimate.

All of the items bore a resemblance to genuine and trademarked products.

Smith pleaded guilty to all six charges on July 28 this year during another appearance at Teesside Magistrates Court.
