Officers searching for a wanted North East man are appealing to the public for information to locate him.

Sean Phillip Cairns, 37, of Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, Northumberland, is wanted for breach of a court order.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Extensive searches to locate Cairns have been ongoing across the region, but he is understood to be actively evading arrest.

"He has strong links to the Ashington area.

"Offices are today (Monday) asking for the public’s help to trace him – and have urged anyone with information to come forward.

"Members of the public are also reminded that harbouring a wanted fugitive is an offence and those involved could face prosecution."
