A total of 29 Darlington, County Durham and Teesside drivers have been found guilty of motoring offences in court this month - with some disqualified from driving for the offences.

The following cases were heard at Teesside Magistrates' Court, Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court and Peterlee Magistrates' Court over the last 30 days.

Here are the driver that were in court:

Nigel Fletcher, 55, of Diamond Terrace, Butterknowle, was found guilty at Teesside Magistrates' Court on February 23 and was fined.

The court heard that on July 13, 2023, Fletcher was the registered keeper of a vehicle, which did not meet the insurance requirements under the Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994 and the Road Traffic Act 1988. 

At the Cleveland Magistrates' hearing, Fletcher admitted the charge.

Following his guilty plea, he was fined £115, ordered to pay a £46 surcharge to fund victim services and £110 in costs.

This brings the total amount due to £271, which must be paid by March 15.

Mateusz Kubicki, of Stockton Road, Darlington, was fined £220 for having his vehicle registered in his name without meeting the insurance requirements.

The 29-year-old man's case was proved in his absence at Cleveland Magistrate's Court on February 23.

Mr Kubicki did not appear at the court session in Teesside Law Courts, Middlesbrough.

He was further ordered to pay an £88 surcharge to fund victim services and £110 in costs.

A collection order for the total fees of £418 was made, with a set deadline of March 22 to complete the payment.

Scott Gaddes, 35, of Warkworth Close, Washington, was charged with using an unlicensed vehicle on October 1, 2023.

The previous license had expired on May 31, 2023. At the time, the annual rate of duty was £210. 

Gaddes was not present during his hearing at Teesside Magistrates' Court on February 23, 2024. 

The court proved the offence in his absence and ordered Gaddes to pay an overall total of £380, comprising a fine of £220, vehicle excise back duty of £70 and court costs of £90.

A collection order for the fine was made, and the court ordered that the balance be paid by March 22, 2024.

Alan Stewart, 55, of Hawarden Crescent, Sunderland, was found guilty in his absence of using an unlicensed vehicle in Sunderland.

The offence took place on May 10, 2022.

Stewart had been driving with an expired vehicle licence, according to the charges brought by the DVLA.

Cleveland Magistrates' Court fined him £220 for the offence at a hearing on February 23, 2024.

In addition to the fine, Stewart was ordered to pay vehicle excise back duty of £40.42 and court costs of £90. 

A collection order was made by the court, and the amount is due to be paid by March 22, 2024.

Stewart did not appear at the Teesside Magistrates' Court to contest the charges.

Aimee Wallace, 42, of  Hillside View in Roddymoor, admitted speeding on A689 Peases Way on August 26, 2023.

She was fined £220 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £88 as well as costs of £90.

She also received 3 points on her licence.

Elizabeth Law, 64, of Chester Drive in Willington, Crook, Durham, admitted speeding on A689 Durham Road on August 26, 2023.

She was fined £220 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £88.

She also ordered to pay costs of £90 and received three points on her licence.

Ian Allick, 55, of Bede Crescent in Newton Aycliffe, admitted to driving over the speed limit on the A1(M) J61 Bowburn to J60 Bradbury on June 26, 2023.

He was fined £220 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £88.

He was also ordered to pay costs of £90 and received three points on his licence.

Richard Mark Lee, 38, of Park Road in Stanley, admitted to driving over the speed limit on the A1(M) J61 Bowburn to J60 Bradbury on July 26, 2023.

He was fined £220 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £88.

He was also ordered to pay costs of £90 and received three points on his licence.

Gareth Christopher Ayers, 33, of Beckett Close, Etherley Dene, Bishop Auckland, pleaded guilty to speeding on the A1(M) J61 Bowburn to J60 Bradbury on August 24, 2023.

He was fined £216, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £86, ordered to pay costs of £90 and received three points on his licence.

Jordan Hamilton, 24, of Milburn Close, Easington, Peterlee, Durham, was found guilty of using a motor vehicle, a Ford Tipper Van, on a road, or other public place, namely Front Street, when there was not in force in relation to that use such a policy of insurance.

He was fined £660, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £264, ordered to pay costs of £90 and received six points on his licence.

Samantha Georgia Barkel, 27, of Thornhill Road, Shotton Colliery, Durham, was found guilty of using a motor vehicle on a road, or other public place, namely the A19 Northbound, when there was not in force in relation to that use such a policy of insurance.

She was fined £660, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £264, ordered to pay costs of £90 and received six points on her licence.

Dianne Cox, 65, of Slake Terrace, Hartlepool Marina, was found guilty of driving a motor vehicle, on Church Road, Hartlepool at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour on November 11, 2022.

She was fined £60 and her driving record was endorsed.

Between November 15, 2022, and January 27, 2023, in Stockton on Tees, she also failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle, namely a Mini, who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

She was fined £120, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £48, ordered to pay costs of £620, and her driving record was endorsed with six points.

Maria Clarke, 67, of Lime Road, Normanby, Middlesbrough, was found guilty in absence of driving a car on Lime Avenue, when he had no insurance on October 8, 2020.

She was fined £180, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £60, ordered to pay costs of £200 to the Crown Prosecution Service, and her driving record was endorsed with six points.

Samuel Hardy, 29, of Coniscliffe Road, Darlington, admitted driving a motor vehicle on the A689 Newton Bewley over a speed limit of 50mph.

He was fined £166, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £66, ordered to pay costs of £85 and disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for six months due to repeat offending.

Joseph Standring, 21, of Holland House Court, Walton-Le-Dale, Preston, admitted driving a motor vehicle, on Queen Elizabeth Way, Stockton-on-Tees, exceeding the 50mph speed limit, on June 19, 2023.

He was fined £392, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £157, ordered to pay costs of £85, and his driving record was endorsed with six points.

Rema Marie Stewart, 28, of West Street, Normanby, Middlesbrough, was guilty of speeding on a restricted road, Stokesley Road, Guisborough, on June 13, 2023.

She drove a Land Rover at a speed exceeding 30mph.

She was fined £40, and ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £16 and costs of £85.

She also had her driving record endorsed with three points.

Basm Azad, 58, of Wentworth Street in Middlesbrough, was found guilty of failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle, who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

He was fined £660, and ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £264 and costs of £85.

He also got six points on his license and was disqualified from driving for six months.

Paul Jackson, 48, of Barrington Crescent in Middlesbrough, was guilty of using a motor vehicle on Bevanlee Road without insurance.

He was fined £120, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £48 and costs of £85.

He also got three points on his license.

Ben Joseph Peter Massey, 18, of Bankfields Road in Eston was guilty of two separate offences.

On July 11, 2023, he was found guilty of using a Quad on Birchington Avenue in Grangetown, without insurance and was fined £120, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £48 and costs of £85.

His driving record was also endorsed with three points.

On the same day, he was found guilty of driving the same vehicle on the same road without a proper license.

He received no separate penalty for this offence.

On July 18, 2023, he was again found guilty of using a Sur-Ron Electric Offroad Motorcycle on Cargo Fleet Lane, without insurance.

He was fined £120, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £48 and costs of £85 and was disqualified from driving for 6 months.

Gillian Halse, 67 - Forfar Road, Hartlepool

  • Between June 22 and August 27, 2023, in Hartlepool - she failed to give information to Cleveland Police relating to the identification of the driver of a Mitsubishi, who is alleged to have been guilty of an offence by driving a car over 30mph. On March 7, Teesside Magistrates' Court found her guilty of the offence. She was fined £660, ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £264.

Harun Hussain, 33 - Normanby Road, Middlesbrough 

  • On May 8 last year, Hussain used a vehicle in Middlesbrough, namely a Ford Transit, on a road, or another public place, namely Normanby Road, Middlesbrough, when there was not in force about that use of such a policy of insurance. On March 7, Teesside Magistrates' Court found him guilty of the offence. He was fined £660, ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £264.

Stephanie Marram, 42 - Dale Close, Stockton

  • Between June 30 last year and August 4, last year in Stockton having been required by or on behalf of the Chief Officer of Police for Cleveland Police failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle; a Nissan, who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.  On March 7, Teesside Magistrates' Court found him guilty of the offence. He was fined £660, ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £264.

Beth Victoria Sanders, 33 - Dinsdale Drive, Durham

  • On April 5 last year, at High Street, Durham kept a vehicle that was unlicensed. On March 7, Teesside Magistrates' Court found her guilty of the offence. She was fined £293, ordered to pay costs of £82.50 and a victim surcharge of £90.

Ian Batey, 37 - Fieldside, Pelton, Chester le Street, Durham

  • On August 14, 2023, at Crook, drove a motor vehicle, a Ford, on a restricted road, namely South Terrace, Low Jobs Hill, at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour. He was fined £115, ordered to pay a surcharge of £46 and costs of £90 - totalling £251.

Michael Britton, 27 - The Fallows, Cockfield, Bishop Auckland

  • On August 12, 2023 at Crook, drove a motor vehicle, an Audi on a restricted road, namely C18a Hargill Road, Howden le Wear, at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour. He was fined £61, ordered to pay a surcharge of £24 and costs of £90 - totalling £175.

Lesley Eagleton, 59 - Linburn Beck, Hamsterley, Bishop Auckland

  • On August 12, 2023, at High Etherley, drove a motor vehicle, namely a Mercedes, on a restricted road, namely the A68, at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour. She was fined £147, ordered to pay a surcharge of £58 and costs of £90 - totalling £295.

Rachel Elizabeth Kirton, 46, Elmdene, Morley, Cockfield, Bishop Auckland

  • On August 12, 2023, at Crook drove a motor vehicle, namely a Kia, on a restricted road, namely C18a Hargill Road, Howden le Wear, at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour. He was fined £294, ordered to pay a surcharge of £117 and costs of £90 - totalling £501.

Lisa Nicholson, 34 - Victoria Terrace, Trimdon Colliery, Trimdon Station

  • On August 14, 2023, at Trimdon Grange, drove a motor vehicle, namely a Mini, on a restricted road, namely B1278 Salters Lane to Lillie Terrace, at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour. He was fined £440, ordered to pay a surcharge of £176 and costs of £90 - totalling £706.
