A takeaway in the heart of Darlington has gone up for sale for £14,950 only months after it was slapped with a zero-star hygiene rating. 

Thai Lemon, located on Northgate, in the centre of Darlington, closed down shortly after it was given a zero star hygiene rating.  

Now, the business is up for sale with Ernest Wilson Business Agents, advertised as a "prime high street trading position in this bustling County Durham market town".

A rat infestation, uncovered by Darlington Borough Council’s environmental health team when they carried out a routine food hygiene visit shut Thai Lemon in December.  

The premises were closed down at the time of the visit as it posed an immediate risk to public health.

But property agents believe the sale of the business could provide a profitable business opportunity for new owners, who have more time to spend at the takeaway.
