A shoplifter has been sentenced to more than six months behind bars following a string of charges for theft.
Steven Andrew Brown, aged 36, from the Hemlington area of Middlesbrough was charged with 13 thefts from a shop by the Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Policing Team.
After being arrested on Monday (April 15), Brown was remanded into custody.
Following a guilty plea, he was yesterday (April 16) sentenced to 26 weeks in prison.
Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Policing Team Sergeant Daniel Oldroyd said: “Cleveland Police will take positive action wherever possible to assist our communities by tackling shoplifting offences.
“Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Policing Team charged the man and were able to remand him to be sentenced the following day.
"Brown pleaded guilty to all offences and is now subsequently imprisoned for his actions.”
