Alan White’s second of the season has earned the wrath of Darlington manager Martin Gray.

The experienced defender will serve a two-game ban having been dismissed during Tuesday’s defeat at Farsley, just five games since he saw red at Salford City.

Both red cards came for two bookable offences, and while Gray defended White after the Salford dismissal, when he was twice cautioned for dissent, the manager was furious with centre-back.

The manager said: “I was disappointed because it was poor discipline. Not good enough. When you’re as experienced as him you shouldn’t be getting a second booking like that.

“You don’t get drawn into a one v one, you let the player run you, you don’t get yourself sent off.

“He’ll be suspended for two or three games now and a man of his experience has let us down and knows it.

“We’re going to missing a key player who has been magnificent all season.”

White’s suspension will begin in a fortnight, meaning he will miss matches at Heritage Park against Lancaster City and Northwich Victoria.

Meanwhile, Darlington are inviting supporters to a meeting next month, when more details on the move to Blackwell Meadows shall be announced.

A statement released last night read: “The purpose of the meeting is to provide fans with an update on the interim financial results to December 2014, progress with the Blackwell Meadows development and to formally launch the Heading Home fundraising initiative that will enable the club to return to Darlington.

“In addition, a number of other announcements will be made regarding forthcoming events and the progress of other strategic initiatives behind the scenes. Martin Gray will be in attendance to answer questions, accompanied by other members of the playing/coaching staff.”

The meeting shall be held at Blackwell Meadows on Thursday, March 5. The bar will be open from 6pm with proceedings starting at 6.30pm.

Meanwhile, former Darlington midfielder Neil Maddison appears at a talk-in this evening, looking back on a career in which he played for Southampton, Middlesbrough and Quakers.

Now a co-commentator on BBC Tees, Maddison spent the bulk of his career with Southampton and then Boro before returning to Darlington and playing for his hometown club.

After hanging up his boots Maddison was twice Quakers joint-caretaker manager, once alongside Martin Gray and then again with Craig Liddle.

All are welcome to attend the event, which takes place at 8pm at the Railway Tavern Northgate, with entry £3 and profits split between Quakers and event organisers, Darlington-based film company Pimm Productions.

This will be the third such event organised by Pimm having recently held well-received talk-ins with former Darlington defender Gary Coatsworth and earlier this month current Quakers captain Gary Brown and left-back Ian Watson.

Also this evening, a prize of £400 is up for grabs in the monthly quiz, organised by the Darlington 1883 Fundraising Group.

It starts at 8pm at the Dolphin Centre with entry £1 per person.
