We’re determined to bounce back on Saturday against Droylsden in the league.

We played poorly in the first half, against Shildon in the semi final of the Durham Challenge Cup on Tuesday night. Even though we played some good football in the second half, we felt as if we’d been sucker punched twice in the first half.

We played up the bank in the second half, because the ball doesn’t run away from us and the opposition usually push up higher. We had plenty of possession, but we weren’t sharp enough in their box. Shildon were tough to play against, they defended well in the second half.

But now we’re looking for three points at Droylsden to get back into the play off spots, because we dropped down to sixth after Bamber Bridge won the other night. One of our aims this season is to reach the play offs, and now we must focus upon that.

We’ve added to the squad in recent weeks with two youngsters, Lewis Hawkins and Luke Coddington. Midfielder Lewis is a good young player, who is clearly benefitting from full time training with Hartlepool. He’s got a good touch and very good distribution, and he’s already fitted into our dressing room.

Luke, who’s come in from Middlesbrough, looks a very good keeper, he had no chance with the goals the other night.

It’s great to see Baz Farr back at the club as goalkeeping coach. He’s great to have him around the dressing room, and he adds some comedy value.

All of the lads would like to say thanks to Carl King for everything that he’s done for us.
