March will be a make-or-break month for Darlington with seven games to cram in which shall have a big say in their final position in the promotion race.

They stumbled lately, losing back-to-back matches, but recovered last weekend by beating Bamber Bridge 2-1 at Heritage Park and aim to take that form into this Saturday’s trip to mid-table Clitheroe.

Bearing in mind recent defeats at Kendal and Farsley, two teams currently outside the play-off positions, however, nobody at Quakers will be taking the game for granted.

“We’re just keeping an eye on ourselves and want to keep winning,” said defender Chris Hunter. “We keep saying that every game is a cup final. We’re treating every game like that.

“Salford have got an easier run-in, but last Saturday Spennymoor only drew. Everybody drops points over the season and I can imagine Salford will yet.

“Even in the defeats we haven’t played that bad, but on Saturday we were back to being solid. Terry Galbraith gave us a bit more height on the left of midfield and he never lost a header.”

On last weekend’s win, he added: “We had to get back to winning ways after the last two results and it was also good to put in a solid performance. It didn’t matter whether we were playing the top or the bottom of the league, we needed three points.

“It was a sense of relief afterwards. After losing two on the bounce everyone’s heads were rocking a bit.

“There’s been no lack of belief, the whole team is adamant that we’re good enough. Every team goes through a bad patch, we took the defeats on the chin, and we couldn’t wait for the next game to get back on it.

“We want to every game, like every team does. We believe we can win every game and that’s what our aim is for the rest of the season.”

Hunter was partnered at the centre of defence last Saturday by both Gary Brown and Liam Hatch, the latter replacing the former due to injury just before half-time, and the substitute impressed with his aerial dominance.

“Hatchy and Browny are similar players,” said Hunter. “Both love to come across and head the ball and that suits me down to the ground.

“Hatchy was great when he came on. He has been excellent recently when he’s had to come on and cover for one of us. It was nice on Saturday, he took the pressure off with me having a bad neck, which I did in the warm-up! He came on and won every header.”

Brown went off with a groin strain and hopes to have recovered in time for this weekend.

Meanwhile, supporters are invited to a meeting this evening at Blackwell Meadows, when more details on the move to Blackwell Meadows shall be announced.

A Quakers spokesman said: “The purpose of the meeting is to provide fans with an update on the interim financial results to December 2014, progress with the Blackwell Meadows development and to formally launch the Heading Home fundraising initiative that will enable the club to return to Darlington.

“In addition, a number of other announcements will be made regarding forthcoming events and the progress of other strategic initiatives behind the scenes. Martin Gray will be in attendance to answer questions, accompanied by other members of the playing/coaching staff.”

The meeting shall be held at Blackwell Meadows with the bar open from 6pm with proceedings starting at 6.30pm.
