MICHAEL WOODS admitted he was as frustrated as anyone as Hartlepool United crumbled against Luton.

The midfielder, back in the side after a one-game suspension, was left deflated following Pools’ second heavy home defeat in a week.

Luton netted three in the second-half, including two in four minutes, to leave Pools floundering.

Following a win at Yeovil the previous weekend, the week has turned into a disaster for Pools and Woods said: “It’s a nightmare, we were well in it. Look at their squad, budget and players and they will be up there. Luton and Portsmouth are the two who are having a right go and you want to compare yourself against them.

“You want to get test yourself against those sides and see where we are at. I didn’t think there was much in it, it was even and could have gone either way. To concede two in four minutes killed us.

“The only positive is that last year we were losing games and not creating. We felt when we conceded one it was game over.

“But now we always are in games, at 3-1 down we still have been creating chances. Their keeper had had a worldie and it’s not falling for us.

“We stick together. We got a result last week, a horrible game, a scrappy win which lacked quality, but the sort of game you enjoy to win.

“Two home games to come and let’s have a go because three or four wins together and you are right up there. We have to find consistency and be better as a team for sure.’’
