FIVE North-East golfers will be looking to clinch a place at next month’s Open Championship today – including Darlington’s Andrew Wilson.
The Wynyard Club’s amateur qualified from local qualifying last week along with Northumberland’s Andrew Minnikin and they will play two rounds at Gailes Links.
They will be joined by Masham’s Daniel Brown as well as former Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie at the Scotland course looking to clinch one of the three places on offer at each Final Qualifying venue.
Hartlepool’s Alex Wrigley will be doing the same at Hillside while Barnard Castle’s Rob Dinwiddie will be aiming to clinch a spot at Royal Troon with the rest of the pack at Woburn.
