Police have confirmed a suspected unexploded World War 2 device has been found at a North East construction site.

Cleveland Police have confirmed they were in attendance this afternoon (August 21) at Teesworks in Redcar after a "suspected unexploded World War II device" was found.

They received a report of the device at around 4:30pm today.

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) were also in attendance at the site.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "Police are in attendance at Teesworks in Redcar after a suspected unexploaded World War II device was discovered.

"Officers received the call at around 4.30pm today (Monday 22 August 2023).

"MOD are also in attendance and will deal with the device safely and accordingly."
